Masmovil Orange Agreement

Masmovil owns and operates a strong infrastructure of ADSL networks in fiber optic, 3G and 4G. The company has more than 8.3 million customers in Spain. Spanish telecoms operator Masmovil has signed a 5G agreement with Orange Spain, increasing its EBITDA forecast for the next three years. In a press release citing a broad partnership for mobile telephony, fibre optics and broadband, Masmovil said the agreement would accelerate its 5G deployment capabilities and also significantly increase its fibre-optic footprint by 14.2 million households by 2020. “This new agreement will enable us to complete the development of a unique model in Europe for the construction of our own high-speed networks of the fourth operator in the most efficient way. In addition, with MASMOVIL`s good economic and financial progress, we significantly improved our forecasts in the first half of the year,” said Meinrad Spenger, CEO of MASMOVIL. It will increase its profitable fibre optic network to 14.2 million homes by 2020 thanks to this Madrid agreement on 1 October 2019.- MASMOVIL Group has announced a new comprehensive fibre optic and mobile network agreement with Orange Spain, which will enable it to improve its competitive position and increase its profitability in a relevant way. Thanks to the excellent commercial momentum that the company is going through and this agreement, it significantly improves its forecasts and expects an EBITDA of between 670 million and 700 million euros in 2021 Orange Spain recently selected Chinese supplier ZTE for the supply of 5G infrastructure in some Spanish cities, the local newspaper expansion reported, citing market sources. As part of the agreement, ZTE will use 5G infrastructure in the cities of Bilbao, San Sebastian, Vitoria, Logroo and Zaragoza. The agreement includes the right to use an additional 5.2 million Orange Spain homes, currently available to MASMOVIL on bitstream.

In this way, MASMOVIL will reach an optimized network of more than 13 million homes by the end of 2019 (62% more than the 8 million households planned) and 14.2 million homes by 2020. Masmovil currently has about 20 million marketable homes with its fibre optic offering. MASMOVIL Group secures a global network agreement with Orange, which includes access to new 5G services and a significant increase in its fibre-optic footprint In addition, MASMOVIL will benefit from the provision in virtual active sharing mode of a high-quality 5G network that can accommodate up to 4,500 sites, which will cover 35% of the population, including the 40 largest cities in Spain – Madrid , Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Sarag , Malaga and Bilbao, among others – where the relevant consumption of these services is expected.
